You may note that I do not stick with a consistent subject. A true Gemini, I paint whatever subject catches my interest, and I consider that I am always learning new techniques. Each new painting is a new experience. Not everything I have painted is on this website...this is a sampling. Chat with me if there is something you would like but don't see... Note that it is never possible to totally recreate an image - there is always change.
The button below will take you to the current show of the Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts Society where I have four paintings listed; happily, one of these four has sold. Further down this page, you can see Alta Lake Ramble and Nan's Roses, which are in this current online sale at www.store.spacsociety.com
Dancing Iris 20 x 20
Beautiful Beginnings 24 x 36
Beautiful Beginnings 24 x 36
These two flower paintings are done in different styles. The Irises are smooth and the texture is achieved by different values. The Poppies are done with a very coarse texture to try to achieve the feel of the wild grasses. Both of these pieces are sold, but I can do something similar, if you are interested.

Above: Wedgemont Lake, 16 x 20, Acrylic, sold. From a photo taken by my daughter-in-law, Wedgemont Lake shows one of the beautiful, remote, hike-in destinations for those who love this wilderness. Again, I am working with more texture throughout this painting, in the foreground and in the mountain opposite. This painting was juried into the Harmony Arts Group Show, held in Ambleside, West Vancouver, August 2 - 11, 2019...
Below: Panorama Ridge from Whistler, 12 x 16, Acrylic, available. My grandkids ski on the top of the World in Whistler. They have no fear! But how clear the air and how fresh the snow at the top of the mountain, even though it is riddled with ski tracks and so there is a fair amount of texture in the mountains in this painting.

Above, Golden Moments, Acrylic, 24 x 30, NFS, shows the view from the hill where we lived overlooking Burrard Inlet. It is a view of Vancouver that others rarely see as it highlights the Second Narrows Bridges - both the road bridge and the railroad bridge underneath.
Below are three pieces that were great fun to paint with layers and layers of transparent acrylics and the help of a few fallen leaves. I did others, as well, but these are my favourites. The middle one which is 24 x 30, sold at the NSAG Winter Art Sale in November, 2018, and the bottom one called "Azure Sea Light" was purchased in April 2022 at the SPAC Spring Art Sale.

Ocean Returns to Tofino - Acrylic, 30" x 36" (NFS) How beautiful the evening is at MacKenzie Beach in Tofino! There are so many colours in every sunset. The beach extends out so far that it is a long walk from the water's edge to the dry parts that are usually untouched by the tides.
Below is a favourite Acrylic, 24 inches x 24 inches. It is called Mist. (SOLD). This piece shows a typical west coast scene where there is a misty, rainy background of mountains and islands, but the BC people do not let the weather stop them.
How magnificent is the sea as it crashes toward the western shore! There are always those majestic trees which were once part of the forest, now like dignified skeletons on the beaches, regularly washed in and out by the tides until they are pock marked and broken. And yet, they give back to the sea and the sand. It is rough justice.

My Spirit Forest Series
You know that we are losing access to these trails and streams. There is building happening right now that threatens this ecosystem. In the meantime, this scene provided a wonderful place for me to walk my black lab, Max. It is a creek of the freshest water that runs down from Mount Seymour and through a small urban park, Garibaldi, just north of my home in North Vancouver. Sadly, more and more houses are being built, more roads are carrying more traffic - there are black tail deer in this forest and many other small creatures whose lives are threatened. The eagles soar and the pileated woodpeckers make a racket. Every so often a bear or a couger wanders through, but the greatest danger is human. I do walk carefully and with great respect; this is the forest of Chief Dan George of the Tsleil Waututh Nation.
